Cable ship to make return

A Liberian-registered oil tanker, MV Temryuk , grossing some 26,218 tons arrived in St. George's yesterday. It off-loaded cargo then transferred to Dockyard for repairs.

The off-loading was expected to take 20 hours and repairs around 30 hours. A spokesperson said the ship will depart shortly after depending on weather.

The other visitor, CEC Westoe stopped by Bermuda last week on its way from Boston to Spain, off-loading two broken cable locators during the stay.

And one-time resident, Norwegian cable ship Skandi Hav is returning to Bermuda's waters after working in Brazil. The ship was stationed in Bermuda from November 19 to December 28, working on underwater cable near the Island.

When it left, the 2,896-ton ship repaired cable near New Jersey before sailing to Brazil.

It is due to return tomorrow for crew transfer and load provisions. A departure date has not been set but the Skandi Hav is expected to be stationed in Brazil.

Frequent visitors continued their regular shipping routines with the arrival of the Somers Isles yesterday morning. It off-loaded 108 containers, including five refrigerated containers, one 40-foot container and two boats.

Numerous bundles of lumber and steel were also off-loaded. The ship is due to leave Bermuda today.

The Bermuda Islander arrives tomorrow and is set to depart next week Monday.

The ship brings 100 containers to the island, including one 40-foot container and 16 refrigerated.

The Oleander arrived on Monday and left Tuesday, sailing for Port Elizabeth, New Jersey.

The ship off-loaded 30 refrigerated containers, 146 dry containers, 14 flatbeds, 41 cars and 1 horse trailer.
