Meyer Agencies spokesman Joe Simas said the Espoir was due to arrive today, discharge a load of fuel and leave on Friday at which point the Iver Expert would go alongside and discharge its load.
However the Esso oil terminal's docks are exposed to the north and if the wind continued to blow a lot then neither ship would be able to go alongside, he added. This would delay the Espoir and then the Iver Expert .
Meanwhile Tuesday's windy conditions delayed the arrival of the massive car ship Harmony Ace .
The Hong Kong flagged vessel steamed into Hamilton Harbour at around noon and left at 4.30 p.m. for Nassau in the Bahamas after off loading 137 cars and 21 boxes of spare parts.
In less dramatic circumstances, Bermuda played host to its three regular calling container ships which brought in more than 300 containers of goods for the Island.
Container Ship Management vice-president Robert Lewis reported that the Oleander arrived on Sunday with 32 refrigerated containers and 102 dry containers.
It also off loaded four trailers carrying steel, two trucks for the Bermuda Electric Light Company, a back hoe, a pallet of steel and 27 cars before departing on Tuesday.
And Mr. Simas reported that the Somers Isles arrived on Sunday at 8.35 a.m.
with 105 containers -- which included ten refers -- two boats and a load of lumber and steel decking.
The Somers Isles left at 6.40 a.m. on Monday and was replaced alongside Hamilton docks at 8.10 a.m. when the Bermuda Islander arrived.
Mr. Simas said the Bermuda Islander off loaded 86 containers including 13 refers before departing at 4.15 p.m. that day.
IN HARMONY - The massive Hong Kong flagged car ship Harmony Ace steamed into Hamilton Harbour at noon on Tuesday after high winds that morning delayed its arrival. The vessel off loaded 137 cars and 21 boxes of spare parts before leaving for Nassau in the Bahamas that afternoon.
