Docks row may affect schedule of cargo ships

A docks labour dispute over overtime may cause some schedule changes for cargo ships due in this week.

The 180 metre-long car ship Harmony Ace will be coming in from Port Au Prince, Haiti, to drop off 175 cars and 24 cases of parts.

But if the dock disputes continue it will continue on to Nassau, Florida and return to the Island on Monday.

Oleander arrived last Sunday and dropped off 152 dry containers, 33 refrigerated containers, a pleasure boat, five trailers and one loadall.

The halt on overtime may also affect the schedule of the Oleander which is expected back next Sunday.

In other shipping news, the Torm Broklyn , which has been in Dockyard while its engines were being repaired, is expected to leave tomorrow.

The Azores-bound Black Watch is expected to bring hundreds of vacationers to the Island on Friday, marking the beginning of the cruise ship season.

The cement carrier Frida is expected in Dockyard on Saturday bringing in a load of cement for the Bermuda Cement Company Ltd.

The Sakura Wrex had to make a slight detour to the Island when one of its crew members was taken to hospital.

Sakura Wrex was able to resume course the same day while the ailing crewman will flew home yesterday.

Sea Lion made a visit last Sunday on its way to Newfoundland, Canada when it stopped to pick up fuel. She sailed on Monday morning.

The cable ship Wave Venture arrived on Monday to restock its cable supply and will leave tomorrow.

And tomorrow, the Bermuda Islander will unload 112 containers of which 18 are expected to be refrigerated.

The Sustain and its two tug boats are due to be on their way to Jacksonville today. Weather permitting, they were scheduled to sail early this morning.
