Founded by Bermudian Mr. Tony Daves, Eurotile quickly became a popular local supplier of ceramic tile. In 1983, the business was sold to Mr. Maynard (Dukie) Soares who managed the company until 1992 when he moved to the United States. Eurohome Bermuda Limited was then formed with the sole purpose of managing Eurotile and its growing business, according to Mr. Huw Lewis, managing director of Eurohome Bermuda Limited. Indeed two decades has brought change. Initially located in a small space on Woodlands Road, Eurotile expanded its wares to include kitchen cabinetry, hardwood floors and carpeting facilitating a move to Mills Creek in Pembroke about five years ago. Eurotile continues to grow and product lines are now being extended, said Mr. Lewis.

Future plans for the company include increasing their Mill's Pride line of in-stock kitchens. "Mill's Pride have a lifetime warranty and are sold at a good price -- 10 percent below US prices -- so we want to go beyond kitchen items and carry more furniture. "Their ready-to-assemble line includes desks, bookcases, coffee tables, entertainment centres, etc.,'' said Mr. Lewis, adding that Eurotile also plans to double the size of their showroom. "We'll definitely need more space to carry these products,'' he noted. To celebrate its 20th anniversary, Eurotile will hold a special draw today for customers who spend $100 or more. Said Mr. Lewis: "We'll have a number of prizes with the first prize being a hand-made antique Persian rug. "It's a collector's piece that was made in 1890,'' he noted, adding that other prizes include tools, t-shirts, hats, pens and the like. As well, Eurotile products have been on sale for the month of April. And various items will continue to be reduced in price, said Mr. Lewis.
