Financial analysts to meet
sponsoring the annual information evening for prospective Chartered Financial Analysts (CFAs) tonight at the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club.
CFA candidates undergo rigorous examinations and those who succeed as charter holders are recognised globally by investment professionals as having achieved a standard of integrity and excellence.
The information evening is held annually to provide prospective CFAs with an opportunity to learn more about the programme.
CFA candidates must have a bachelor's degree or the equivalent in professional work experience. They must pass a series of spring exams which test their knowledge of a broad range of topics relevant to the investment decision-making process.
Subjects covered include ethical and professional standards, portfolio management, valuation and investment theory, global markets and instruments, analysis of fixed-income securities, analysis of equity securities, analysis of alternative investments, quantitative methods, accounting and corporate finance, and economics.
Formed in 1989, the BSFA now has 80 members, with common objectives that include the development of the financial analysis industry and profession in Bermuda.
They assist in maintaining and improving the professionalism and competence of financial analysts in Bermuda.
The BSFA is the local affiliate of the Association for Investment Management and Research (AIMR), an international, non-profit organisation of investment professionals and educators. AIMR administers the Chartered Financial Analyst programme and awards the CFA designation.
