American Airlines New York service arrived over four hours late in the early hours of Tuesday. However, it was not clear whether the delay was due to the poor weather.

Flight AA1444 was due to arrive from JFK at 10.15 p.m. but actually touched down at 2.30 a.m.

The airline experienced delays in the US, particularly with the knock-on effect of snow at Chicago. However, all of its Bermuda flights were expected to be on time.

A Bermuda Airport spokesman said all other flights were operating on time.
