presentation by Mrs. Jennifer Patterson, a Certified Financial Planner at First Bermuda Securities, will be an introduction to saving.

The workshop has been preceded by two held earlier this summer that focused on education and retirement planning.

"When students are writing tests to get into college, it suddenly occurs to many parents that they should have started saving for education earlier,'' said Mrs. Patterson. "People are more focused about saving for retirement as the subject has been well publicised,'' she said.

Mrs. Patterson stressed she would not be recommending financial products, but educating the public about finance.

"People who are not familiar with how to start saving can learn basic terminology, where investments fit into their savings goals and the mechanics of investing,'' said Mrs. Patterson.

The workshop will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday in the Chamber of Commerce boardroom.
