part in their 19th Annual Labour Day celebration on Monday.

But on Saturday, Anthony Williams will be guest speaker at a dinner being sponsored by the BIU.

Mr. Williams said he intended to address the importance of unity and labour among Bermudians and Government officials.

"My talk will be on policy issues,'' he said, "and these are policies founded on a Government that has to work. I think it is important that the Civil Service is more responsible, because success of Government and a community depends on it.'' He noted that Bermuda and Washington have a similar government structures and said labour was the foundation of his administration. And he believed that there was an opportunity to implement changes that benefitted not only the Government but the community as well.

"Labour is so important,'' he said. "The similarities between our countries are almost parallel. There has been a tremendous upwelling of our city and we're making some tough changes. I believe we have to keep the service up.

It's a family fight.'' Mr. Williams also planned to speak about financial structure and stability of a successful Government and credited Dr. Andrew F. Brimmer, Bermuda's chief financial officer, for assisting him in his success as mayor.

"I plan to formally recognise Dr. Brimmer,'' he said. "I am a very big fan of his. I would not be sitting here as mayor if he had not supported me in critical times.'' Labourite: Washington DC Mayor Anthony Williams will be speaking at the Bermuda Industrial Union banquet at the Southampton Princess this evening and at the Labour Day festivities on Monday at Bernard Park.
