Mr. Mark Booth R.I.C.S. (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) has been elected president of the Bermuda Association of Surveyors during the

The 34-year-old has been a land surveyor with the Works and Engineering Department for four months and has been qualified in the business for 13 years.

For the last seven years he has worked for Jones Waddington and he also worked for a number of years for a London firm.

Mr. Booth is also a Member of the Society of Surveying Technicians (MSST). The 22-year association has about 50 members covering land surveying, building surveyors, quantity surveying, general practice surveying and this year is pursuing a plan to increase the number of registered surveyors and promote education.

The association is hoping to sponsor a student this year, through providing educational funding.

Mid Ocean Ltd. yesterday announced the election of Mr. Henry Harder and Mr.

Paul Jeanbart to its board of directors.

Mr. Harder is the former chairman and chief executive officer of the Chubb Corporation while Mr. Jeanbart has served as chief executive officer at the Rolaco Group of Companies for over 30 years, according to a release from Mid Ocean Ltd.

Chubb, one of the largest insurers in the US, is a holding company operating in property and casualty insurance, life and health insurance and real estate development industries.

Rolaco is a Geneva-based investment company.

"We are pleased to welcome both Henry and Paul to Mid Ocean's board. They bring a wealth of experience to the board will help guide the company in the year's to come,'' said Mr. Michael Butt, president and CEO of Mid Ocean Limited.

Mid Ocean Ltd., through its Bermuda-based subsidiary, Mid Ocean Reinsurance Ltd., provides property catastrophe and other reinsurance to insurers and reinsurers worldwide.

The company made the appointments last week at a quarterly board meeting. The company Thursday reported fourth quarter and year end results.

Profits for fiscal 1994 were $91 million, an increase of 34.4 percent over the $67.7 million earned in fiscal 1993. Fourth quarter income was $40.7 million.
