New website on occupational therapy started
the world to see and make use of.
One of the highlights of Occupational Therapy Week this week was the launch of the website. Sponsored by Logic Communications the site contains general information on occupational therapy, occupational therapy in Bermuda including registration requirements. It also contains current events news of the local Association and links to other occupational therapy sites and other Bermuda websites.
Organised by Business Development Manager with Logic Communications, Melanie Burns and created by graphic artist Sean Collier, the theme of the project is `opening the doors of independence'. Chairman of the Bermuda Occupational Therapists Association, Jacqueline Kavanaugh, said that the Association got requests for information from around the world.
"We get a lot of letters from occupational therapists from countries all over the world. They generally are asking us about the field here on the Island and how they would go about seeking employment.'' she said, "They can now find that information online.'' Health Minister Nelson Bascome was on hand for the launch of the site and congratulated the group on their work at organising Occupational Therapy Week.
He praised their efforts at increasing public awareness on the topic and pledged his support and help in the future.
Mr. Bascome also reassured the Association that concerns they have on making the field more client centred would be addressed.
