Bermuda Biological Station for Research scientist Dr. Debbie Steinberg, Nick Bates and Craig Carlson have been invited to present papers at the Joint Global Ocean Flux Study in Norway.
The conference will cover the role of the global ocean in removing carbon dioxide, a key greenhouse gas driving global climate change, from the atmosphere.
The scientists will report on Bermuda's work in this area, including plankton transport and its contribution in carbon movement, carbon cycling in the Sargasso Sea and the role of marine bacteria in degrading biochemicals.
NEW ROLE FOR DOWLING APP New role for Dowling Lionel Dowling is the new Parliamentary Registrar.
The $75,000-a-year post makes Mr. Dowling responsible for elections as well as implementing a year-round campaign to urge voters to contact him if they change address.
Previously employed as the Assistant Registrar General, Mr. Dowling first joined the Civil Service in 1976 as an inspector in the Social Insurance Department.
RED CROSS APPEALS FOR ETHIOPIA FNR Red Cross appeals for Ethiopia The Bermuda Red Cross has launched an appeal to help victims of the drought in Ethiopia.
The Bermuda Sabbath Fellowship of the Church of God has already donated $1,000 to help aid work in the country.
Residents who wish to support the fund can make donations in person at the Bank of Bermuda, Bank of NT Butterfield and Gibbons Deposit Company or by mail to the Bermuda Red Cross at Charleswood, Nine Berry Hill Road, Paget.
