Seminar on challenges facing company directors

Marsh and Mclennan and Conyers Dill & Pearman are holding a seminar this evening to examine new trends and challenges facing company directors. The venue has been changed to the Hamilton Princess to cope with increased demand for places.

Although there have been no immediate changes to legislation governing company directors, the past couple of years or so have seen many changes in attitude internationally to the director's role. Several outside bodies doing reviews of Island regulation and supervision have touched on the director's role and the broader issues of corporate governance. The seminar will look at these issues, which are of interest to both existing and potential directors.

The first speaker will be Mr. John Collis of Conyers Dill & Pearman who will cover directors' duties, conflicts of interest and delegation. The other speaker will be Mr. Dana Kopper, senior vice president of BoardWorks, which is a corporate governance consultancy and service of Marsh & McLennan Companies.

He will examine the environment and today's board and emerging governance trends and challenges.

Mr. Kopper has provided a broad range of governance and risk management services to public, private, for-profit and not-for-profit organisations for the past 23 years.
