Store aims at fostering young quest for learning
learning games and toys, is trying to raise its profile with a new shop in the Washington Mall.
Quest was started in 1991 by Mr. Rick Wynn and his wife Mrs. Darnell Wynn as a direct mail order house for local buyers of learning games and toys.
About 80 percent of the company's sales are retail and 20 percent wholesale to the Department of Education, private schools and Archie Brown & Son Ltd.
The store, with about 500 square feet of floor space, is located in Phase II in the Washington Mall and eliminates the need for Archie Brown as a Quest retail outlet, said Mrs. Wynn.
Mr. Wynn said with students due to soon return to school, that sales should increase.
"As we move toward the school year business is picking up,'' he said. The company plans to continue direct mail and direct marketing efforts.
"Until the new store opened, we have basically run Quest by mail, telephone and the back of our station wagon. With the retail store we are providing a centrally located meeting place where customers can purchase or browse through our product lines,'' said Mrs. Wynn.
Mrs. Wynn has 14 years experience in the public school system while Mr. Wynn is the former Bermuda Broadcasting Company Ltd. marketing manager.
When the husband and wife first began the direct mail business they carried Educational Insights products.
Among the store's products are California-based Educational Insights GeoSafari/GeoSafari Jr. and MathSafari.
"The Educational Insights product line is clearly already a formidable force on its own in our market,'' said Mr. Wynn.
