Store gets new name, owners
And the Rural Hill, Paget consignment business has changed its name to Back on the Rack Ladies Resale.
The business will re-open on October 1 with fall and winter items in stock, the store's new owners said yesterday.
Margo Dal Poggetto and her husband, retired restaurateur Mario Dal Poggetto, purchased the business from Vivienne Power.
Mrs. Dal Poggetto, who will manage the business, said that resale items, very popular in the US, is now a growing business in Bermuda.
Since it opened ten years ago, the business has built up a file of about 2,500 consigners. The store sells women's clothing, jewellery and accessories.
"Some women are buying their entire wardrobes from resale stores,'' she said.
"This is an excellent place for young working women looking to start a wardrobe.'' Back on the Rack will continue to sell by consignment unsold items from other stores. Under the move, stores unable to sell various goods or looking to liquidate stock might ultimately be able to move items through Back on the Rack, she said.
"This would benefit everyone, the retailer would sell merchandise while customers would be getting a good price,'' she said.
There is a need to be pro-active because "Bermuda is so competitive now,'' she said.
According to a relative, Mrs. Power decided to pursue a career in real estate after ten years in retailing.
