Spokesman Karla Lacey-Minors said Telco will become the holding company in the new structure.

She said: "We've broken it down for three reasons. Under the new telecommunications regulatory framework, those companies entering different areas of competition will come under the new regulatory framework. And it is going to be, more than likely, less cumbersome than the current framework.

"We are forming new companies to come under the new system. Number two is to aid competition. It will level the playing field, breaking out into three separate businesses. No one will be able to say we have an unfair advantage, attracting further restrictions.

"Thirdly, we believe that having divisions strictly focused will mean more service to our customers.'' BTC Mobility Ltd. will provide cellular and wireless services, BTC Telecommunications Ltd. is the company that provides the regular telephone service, and BTC Services Ltd. will provide the accounting and administrative services.
