Former Stonington Beach hotel boss Esan Frederick has officially taken over the role, after leaving the larger Paget resort earlier this week.

The announcement came last night from White Sands owners Dwyer Hospitality Group, a division of James M. Dwyer Real Estate Equities International.

Mr. Frederick previously worked at Stonington and the Fairmont Hamilton Princess Hotel as assistant general manager.

A Bermudian, he is graduated with an MBA in International Business from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island.

PENSIONER WARNED CTS Pensioner warned A magistrate yesterday warned a drunk driving pensioner to cool it.

Magistrate Archibald Warner heard Francis James Mallory, of Coral Acres Drive, Southampton, was nabbed by Police on November 4 on Middle Road, Warwick.

Mr. Warner told him: "You want your licence? You're 71-years-old. You get a free pass for the bus. You don't have to pay the bus fare.'' Mr. Mallory said: "I don't?'' Mr. Warner said: "You are retired, cool it, relax man, don't try to run free.'' Mallory, who had pleaded guilty to driving while impaired, was fined $600 and banned from driving all motor vehicles for 12 months.

CHILD'S BIKE STOLEN CRM Child's bike stolen A Sandys Parish girl was left without her pedal bike after it was stolen from outside her Spring Benny Road home sometime on Wednesday.

The bike is described as being purple in colour with sparkles.

In a separate incident, a Pembroke woman was robbed after someone entered through an unlocked window at her Mount Hill home and removed a container filled with money.

Both crimes are under investigation.

MAN DENIES WOUNDING CTS Man denies wounding A Pembroke man faces trial after pleading not guilty to unlawful wounding and carrying an offensive weapon.

Magistrates' Court heard that John Sinclair Anderson, 22, of St. Monica's Road, was allegedly carrying a machete on December 7.

Anderson was granted $1,000 bail with a like surety, pending his trial on May 2.

LIBRARIES CLOSE EARLY LIB Libraries close early The National Library on Queen Street, the Youth Library on Church Street and the Mobile Library will all close early on December 17.

Instead of closing at 5 p.m., the libraries will close at 2 p.m. to allow staff to attend an office party.

The libraries will reopen as usual the following day.
