Marsha Egan, president of the national Society of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (CPCU), will address 37 graduates at a luncheon today at La Coquille restaurant.

Ms Egan is the first woman in the society's 56-year history to serve on the executive committee. Before becoming president she served three years as the Society's treasurer.

The society is very highly regarded in the insurance industry as a provider of educational programmes and professional certification. The charity organisation offers classes and seminars for people in all segments of the property and liability insurance business. In April Bermuda's CPCU chapter became the first to exist outside the US.

Peter Doyles, BII's director of education and training, said that Ms Egan would talk about the functions of the CPCU in her address.

Ms Egan is assistant vice president for CNA Personal Insurance in Reading Pennsylvania. She is on the AICPCU's advisory board for Associate in Personal Insurance designation and has served as the president of the National Association of Insurance Women.

Ms Egan is also a recipient of the Insurance Woman of the Year award and the Insurance Person of the Year.
