Xerox scores big with colour laser printer
high speed laser product that prints in colour.
The Xerox 4850 Highlight Colour Laser Printing System has been installed at the Bank of Bermuda.
The bank put it to immediate effect by using the machine to print its latest quarterly report in two colours.
Mr.
Donald Lines, the bank's president and CEO, said: "This is a visible example of our continuing effort to reduce the cost of printing and stationery and improve the quality of printed material and services provided to customers by the use of advances in technology.'' Bermuda Office Supplies, which is part of the A. F. Smith Trading group, is the first company in the Latin America/Caribbean/Bermuda area to clinch a deal to supply the system.
Mr. Tony Smith, president of A. F. Smith's, said: "We are very excited about what the new Xerox colour technology means for the printing industry and particularly for the cost of producing colour documents in Bermuda.'' The Xerox 4850 is the first production class duplex laser printer to give customers the capability to produce spot colour, and shades of that colour, on one document, in one easy step.
The 4850 prints at 50 impressions per minute, in colour and black ink, in one pass and prints on both sides of the paper.
The machine offers the use of three primary colours, green, blue and red. When these colours are mixed with black and white dots, a customer can print virtually any variety or shade of the primary colour.
Bermuda Office Supplies' general manager Ms Patti Daly said: "The improved productivity is the biggest reason a customer would choose the 4850, but having the flexibility to make input changes on letters and forms at the push of a button, instead of re-making paper and metal masters, gives 4850 customers optimum control over the cost of doing business.
"We have yet to understand the full ramifications of what this new technology will do for Bermuda, but Xerox has been winning every major printing award since the 4850's introduction.'' Bermuda Office Supplies informed major companies about the technology last September and since then has been working with several accounts to determine their print requirements.
