On a day when almost $250,000 of shares changed hands, the Royal Gazette/BSX Index rose 8.75 points, or 0.77 percent, to 1,147.26.

A high volume of Butterfield Bank shares traded, 124,067 in total, was the main contributor to the large turnover of $246,840.95 for the exchange, yesterday. However, the price of Butterfield shares remained static at $1.25.

There was a 56 cents, or 13.2 percent, improvement in the value of Ascendant Group shares to $14.95, and also a 55 cents, or 12.2 percent, improvement in BF&M stock to $14.

All other shares remained unchanged.

The total number of shares traded was 131,367.
