ABIR promotes Madeiros
The Association of Bermuda Insurers and Reinsurers (ABIR) has promoted Leila Madeiros to the position of senior vice-president and corporate secretary. Ms. Madeiros joined the association in 2006 and rose up through the ranks to the post of vice-president a year later.
She manages ABIR's policy development work related to Bermuda's efforts to ensure that the Bermuda Monetary Authority's regulatory regime is equivalent to international standards, as well as fulfilling her role as corporate secretary working on corporate organisation, Government and industry relations and financial management. She also leads the association's outreach to the Bermuda community helping to encourage Bermudians interested in employment in the international insurance sector.
"Leila is an exceptional employee," said Brad Kading, president and executive director of ABIR. "As a former insurance regulator and a former company executive, she understands the promise and problems associated with insurance regulation. She's a true leader with her knowledge and insight about insurance regulation in Bermuda specifically and about the goals of international regulatory co-operation and standard setting."
