Allied World Assurance Co. Holdings Ltd. has appointed a new chief operating and administrative officer and a chief underwriting officer.

The global re/insurer has promoted David Bell to the position of chief operating officer and administrative officer at Allied World Assurance Co. Ltd, Allied World's Bermuda insurance subsidiary, from the role of senior vice-president and global product line manager of professional liability.

Meanwhile Frank D'Orazio has been promoted to chief underwriting officer of Allied World Assurance Co. Ltd, from his most recent position of senior vice-president and global product line manager of general casualty.

Butterfield Bank has announced a management reshuffle in its Butterfield Funds Services business.

Bruce Albrecht has resigned from Butterfield Liquid Reserve, Money Market (all classes) and Select (all classes) Funds and is replaced by Sheila Brown, while he has also stepped down from the Butterfield Capital Appreciation Bond, Select Invest, US$ Bond, Systematic Equity and Bermuda Funds and is replaced by Curtis Dickinson. John Lewis has resigned from the Butterfield Global Blue Chip Fund and will not be replaced.

Bermuda-based specialty insurer Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. has announced a number of new appointments in its Europe and Asia Pacific offices.

In the company's Zurich, Switzerland office, Laurent Beauregard and Patrizio Amedeo Cassinis have taken up posts as senior account underwriters, with focuses on the Francophone and southern Europe markets respectively.

Also due to join the Zurich office are Tim Griffiths, who comes from Guy Carpenter& Co. to serve as a senior underwriter, and Gareth Christopher, a reinsurance pricing actuary transferring from Endurance's London office.

In Singapore, Christian Ladoux has joined the office as a senior account underwriter, while Kevin Quek is due to take up a senior account underwriter post in December. Mr. Ladoux and Mr. Quek will report to Patrick Aeschbacher, Endurance's head of reinsurance for the Asia-Pacific region. Pierre Balthazard, who comes from XL Re Ltd.'s office in Singapore, is set to start work with Endurance in October as a senior reinsurance pricing actuary.
