Argus surges 6.4%
Argus Group Holdings Ltd.s share price surged 6.4 percent yesterday.
The insurer and pension provider gained 45 cents on the trading of 12,000 shares to close on $7.50.
Last week the company announced it had agreed in principle to settle a class-action lawsuit brought by policyholders of its international life insurance unit who were badly impacted by Madoff-exposed investments. The agreement involved no cash payments to policyholders.
Argus was the only share to change value yesterday as the Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index gained 17.03 points, or 0.7 percent, to close on 2,366.71.
The BSX Insurance Index of the Island's leading international insurance companies rose 2.1 percent on a strongly positive day for Wall Street. The Index climbed 16.66 points to 802.71.
