Ascendant up 6.7%
Last week brought strong gains for three of the bigger companies on the Bermuda Stock Exchange domestic board.
Ascendant Group Ltd., owner of electricity provider Belco, was the biggest climber, gaining 6.7 percent. Ascendant shares closed up $1 at $15.99, after 27,748 of its shares traded through the five days.
Insurer BF&M Ltd. also had a positive week, registering a gain of 49 cents, or 3.8 percent, to $13.50, as 4,000 shares changed hands.
Telecommunications group KeyTech Ltd., owner of the Bermuda Telephone Company, climbed 15 cents, or 2.1 percent, to close the week on $7.25, as 32,022 of its shares were exchanged.
Butterfield Bank was the most actively traded issuer, but its share price held steady at $1.47 on the trading of more than 82,000 shares.
The Royal Gazette / BSX Index rose 14.16 points, or 1.1 percent, to end the week on 1,274.99.
Share volume topped 148,000 shares and turnover was just shy of $854,500.
