Automated systems are the focus of Integrated Technology Solutions

In control:Greg Woods, of Integrated Technology Solutions Ltd.

The monitoring and control of electrical devices for cost and energy savings is at the forefront of almost everything that Integrated Technology Solutions Ltd. does.

The energy management company, which was launched nine years ago and is based in Devonshire with a staff base of seven, provides a range of products and services for the residential and commercial markets to improve energy efficiency and conservation.

On the residential side it focuses on home automation, automated systems, communications and security both at home or remotely by interfacing with the existing system, such as switching air conditioning systems on and off and dimming the lighting in a room.

The company also offers manual and automated window treatments to control solar glare and heat transfer, but above all it prides itself in being able to integrate all of these technologies into one, according to Greg Woods, founder, president and CEO of Integrated Technology Solutions.

"We are able to develop these electronic systems with which people can control everything at the touch of a button," he said.

Customers can also check on their water levels using sensors in their water tanks and electricity consumption and energy production from renewable sources like solar and wind, with the ability to adjust the usage.

In fact, the company can build up a full internal network which enables the transfer of information to be controlled from on or off-site, according to Mr. Woods, who previously worked as an engineer at Cable & Wireless Bermuda for a number of years.

Commercial applications include window treatments for large buildings, for example Lancashire Holdings Ltd.'s board room in the Power House is already kitted out. Also lighting controls, with Integrated Technology Solutions working closely with architects and interior designers to incorporate its systems into the overall design, particularly in LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified projects.

In the future, Mr. Woods hopes to see more green and automated technology installed in homes and businesses across Bermuda to enable users to lead a more convenient and better lifestyle.

"We see ourselves as being uniquely positioned to work alongside energy renewables and conservation companies by providing a platform that can integrate all of the systems into one easily accessible whole," he said.

Going forward Mr. Woods would also like to see Government take the lead and implement more energy conservation-focused legislation at the same time as introducing further financial incentives for the average homeowner to adopt the technology and educating the population about its uses.
