Bank moves off low

Butterfield Bank gained more than one percent yesterday to propel the Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange to its first positive day of trading this week.

The bank, which was the only domestic company to see its shares change value, gained 10 cents (1.12 percent) to move off its 52-week low and advance to $9, as 1,761 of its shares traded.

The BSX Index climbed 17.47 points (0.57 percent) to end the week on 3,107.23.

Insurers Argus Group Holdings Ltd. (1,700 shares) and BF&M Ltd. (147 shares) also traded, both closing unchanged.

The only other issues to trade were KeyTech Ltd., which closed unchanged on $10.95 after 400 shares changed hands, and Belco Holdings Ltd., which remained on $16 on the trading of 74 shares.

Volume was 4,082 shares and turnover was $39,304.

The BSX Insurance Index of leading Bermuda international insurance companies also posted green numbers, rising 1.4 percent to close on 770.33 points.
