Bank of Bermuda promotes two

Guillermo Konecny

The Bank of Bermuda announced the appointment of Guillermo Konecny to the newly formed role of head of global banking and markets and Mark Prothero to the new role of chief risk officer.

As head of Global Banking and Markets, Mr. Konecny will be responsible for joining up the global banking, global markets and investments divisions at the Bank. The global banking and markets division has been formed to not only replicate the HSBC Group structure but to further leverage the group's global resources.

Mr. Konecny was previously the head of HSBC Investments (Bermuda) Ltd, which he will continue to manage, and has been with the HSBC Group since 1989.

As chief risk officer, Mr. Prothero will be responsible for all aspects of risk at the bank, including credit risk management, internal control, compliance, market risk, and fraud and security.

Before this appointment, Mr. Prothero was the head of HSBC securities services in Bermuda and has over 18 years experience within the HSBC Group.

Bank of Bermuda chief executive officer Philip Butterfield said: "Both of these appointments allow us to increase focus on two very important issues, the needs of our institutional clients and the key risks of our business which include market, credit, operational and reputation risk."
