Bank of Bermuda set to shut down airport branch

The Bank of Bermuda will close its branch at LF Wade International Airport and merge it with the bank's St. George's location, effective from February 6.

The ATM and night deposit service will remain at the airport location to meet clients' self-service banking needs, with all staff at the branch being redeployed to other locations.

But Renee Bullock-Cann, head of the branch network said the bank will continue to have a strong presence at the airport.

"We will continue to operate our US dollar ATMs in the departure lounge and our duty terminals in the arrivals area," she said.

"In addition, the existing ATM and night deposit service will remain to meet the needs of the local business community and travelers needing Bermuda dollars.

"The St. George's branch has been enjoying strong growth and we have plans to expand the services we offer there.

"The airport branch has been less busy and with many of our clients now conducting their day-to-day banking through on-line banking and ATMs, there was no longer a need for full time staff in the branch.

"Moving them to St. George's really helps that branch to keep up with our growing business and to serve our clients' needs most effectively."

The bank currently has five branches on the Island, including its newest branch, the express banking branch, based in the Compass Point building on Bermudiana Road, Hamilton.
