Banks trade briskly

The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index was virtually unchanged yesterday, despite a busy day of trading for the banking sector.
More than 46,000 shares of Butterfield Bank were exchanged, as the share price remained unchanged on $1.50.
Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. slipped two cents to $9.88, as 2,500 shares changed hands.
The Royal Gazette/BSX Index closed the day on 1,276.84 points, just a tenth of a point down.
Volume was 48,504 shares and turnover topped $93,600.
The BSX Insurance Index of the Island's leading international insurance companies fell six points, or 0.6 percent, to 993 points.
