BCB sees 5.5% rise

Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd. saw an increase of 50 cents, or 5.55 percent, yesterday to close at $9.50 to become the biggest gainer on the Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) yesterday.
BF&M Ltd. also advanced yesterday after releasing its quarterly results, which showed a $7.8 profit for the first quarter. Its shares rose 25 cents, or 1.25 percent, to end the day at $20.25.
Belco Holdings Ltd. traded 4,000 shares over the day, while Bank of NT Butterfield traded 38,400, but by the end of trading the value of both stocks remained unchanged.
The BSX closed the day at 4,986.10 points, an increase of 7.49 points, or 0.15 percent.
The BSX Insurance Index closed up by 8.4 points, or 0.77 percent, to end the day on 1,090.39.
