A taste of Asia and Europe will be coming to Bermuda when the long-awaited Beluga Bar opens in Washington Mall III tomorrow.

As reported in The Royal Gazette last month, the Island’s latest bar/restaurant will offer the finest in seafood dishes, but has now added sushi to its menu with the recruitment of head chef Sammy Wong.

Mr Wong, is well known in the catering world, having worked at D’Mikado at Pier Six and opened Yashi Sushi Bar, as well as working in Singapore and Australia.

Joining him behind the bar will be a team of owner/manager Antonello Fadda and Matteo Gilardoni, in addition to another chef and two waiting staff

Mr Fadda, who owns and operatess Soul Food Express along with business partners Domenico Cacace and Ilario Pepi, said the bar had already created a big buzz in advance of its launch.

“It’s been crazy,” he said. “People are still calling us about Christmas party bookings.”

The new menu will feature sashimi/carpaccio, sushi combos, special rolls, caviar and dessert, and specials of Balik Norwegian salmon, rock oyster and lobster ceviche, washed down with a selection of flavoured vodka, wine, beer, cocktails and soft drinks.

The Beluga Bar, which has seating for 36 people, will be open between 11.30am and 9pm from Monday to Saturday and after 6pm can only be accessed from Church Street.
