Bermuda Press up 12.5%

Bermuda Press (Holdings) Ltd shares soared 12.5 percent on light volume in Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) trading yesterday.

The company, which owns a portfolio of media, printing, retail and real estate interests including The Royal Gazette newspaper, gained $1.50 on the trading of 700 shares to close on $13.50.

The only other trading activity yesterday was in the banking sector.

Butterfield Bank remained unchanged at $1.25, as 2,000 of its shares changed hands. Thirty-five of Butterfield’s preference shares also traded, as the price stayed at $1,275.

Bermuda Commercial Bank Ltd stayed on $9.75, with 30 shares trading.

The Royal Gazette/BSX Index gained 1.78 points, or 0.16 percent, to close on 1,139.66. Volume was 2,765 shares. Turnover was just short of $55,600.

The BSX Insurance Index fell six points, or 0.6 percent, to 998 points.
