A hairdressing salon is doing it bit to help clients during the economic downturn with the launch of a new store offering hair pieces and wigs to meet all budgets.

Bold N' Beautiful Barber Hair & Nails Salon, which was opened by Nola (Cherry) Harold-Smith and her husband Earl Glaston Smith four years ago, has been offering a range of services from hairstyling, braiding, extensions and locks to manicures, pedicures and other special treatments all at affordable prices.

And now Ms Harold-Smith has embarked on her latest venture by setting up Bold N' Beautiful Hair & Wig Supplies, which is due to officially open on Thursday next week.

Ms Harold-Smith said she launched the new shop, which is based in the Recorder Building just down from the salon in Court Street, after seeing a niche in the market and demand for those products.

"I saw the need for advancement in hair pieces and wigs and extensions, so decided to start up this business," she said.

"We also offer affordable prices and the best quality hair and felt that it was important to offer people something a lit extra in today's economic situation."

Ms Harold-Smith, who has three employees working at the salon and plans to take on more staff, including a barber, technicians and hair stylists, as the business expands, admitted it was a brave move to set up a new business in the current economic climate, but was confident she would get customers in the door because of her reasonable prices.

Having learnt her trade in her homeland of Jamaica, she has been living in Bermuda for 19 years, building up her clientele working at a number of salons before branching off on her own.

The hair and wig store offers everything from remy (Indian style), sensational, ultra premium and other common brands of hair to cosmetics and other hair products.

Bold N' Beautiful Hair & Wig Supplies at 63 Court Street is open from Monday to Saturday between 9 a.m. and 6.30 p.m. and Bold N' Beautiful Barber Hair & Nails Salon at 57 Court Street from Monday to Thursday (9 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.), Friday (9 a.m. to 9 p.m.) and Saturday (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
