BSX streak ends

Local stocks' winning streak came to a halt as The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) Index fell for the first week in six.

Three stocks fell during a quiet trading week, shortened to four days by Monday's Bermuda Day holiday.

Belco Holdings Ltd. suffered the biggest fall, losing three percent. The energy company, whose share price is down 11 percent so far this year, fell 50 cents to $16 on the trading of 2,600 shares.

LOM (Holdings) Ltd. also suffered a decline, shedding 10 cents, or 2.7 percent, to close the week on $3.60, as 5,000 shares changed hands.

Butterfield Bank pared five cents of the huge gains it has made over the past month, falling 0.9 percent to $5.50.

The BSX Index fell 19.04 points, or 0.8 percent, over the four days to close on 2,349.67.

Volume was 20,490 shares and turnover was $131,297.
