Shares of Butterfield Bank dipped 6.7 percent yesterday, delivering a blow to The Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index.

The bank fell 10 cents to close the day on $1.40, as 37,448 shares changed hands.

No other local stocks traded on the BSX.

The index fell 47.84 points, or 3.8 percent, to 1,216.70.

Volume was 37,448 shares and turnover was $52,896.
