CellularOne relaunched its fifth store in St. George's yesterday.

Michael Leverock, chief operating officer of CellularOne, said: "When deciding to move to this new location, we kept our St. George's customers in mind.

"We wanted to offer this great community a more convenient location, with more space, a better layout and a larger selection of products and accessories.

"At 18 York Street, we are able to do just that."

The York Street store is closer to the St. George's shopping area and the layout twice the size of the original store.

St. George's Mayor Mariea Caisey said: "CellularOne began offering service in July 1999, and today, just nine years later, mark yet another milestone in their short history in Bermuda.

"The fact that they have relocated to one of our historic buildings, having been constructed in 1828, is a prime example of how St. George's can retain its heritage with modern day and futuristic business.

"A great combination of the old and the new."

Energy, Telecommunications, and E-Commerce Minister, Terry Lister, was part of the ribbon cutting ceremony.

He said: "CellularOne has consistently been one of the leading telecommunications companies on the island and it's pleasing to watch the company grow.

"Today isn't a mere celebration of a branch relocating, it's a celebration of a Bermudian telecommunications company expanding and successfully showing the island that Bermuda is a leading force in the telecommunications industry. CellularOne's commitment to the island's residents and needs does not go without merit."

The St. George's store is open from Monday to Saturday between 9am to 5pm.
