Max Capital Group Ltd. has appointed Joseph Monk as global chief actuary.W. Marston (Marty) Becker, chairman and CEO of Max Capital, said Mr. Monk will be responsible for coordinating, controlling and developing the company's group-wide actuarial resources."Mr. Monk was previously head of insurance consulting at Lane Clark & Peacock LLP, which he joined in 1995 after graduating from Cambridge University with a Master of Arts degree in Economics. He is experienced in reserving, capital modelling and pricing.

Monk joins Max

Mr. Monk was previously head of insurance consulting at Lane Clark & Peacock LLP, which he joined in 1995 after graduating from Cambridge University with a Master of Arts degree in Economics. He is experienced in reserving, capital modelling and pricing.

Mr. Monk is a Fellow of the UK's Institute of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland.

Torus appoints Richardson ...

Torus has named Jackie Richardson as senior vice-president and head of global human resources, effective.

Reporting to Torus' global chief operating officer, Naveen Anand, Ms Richardson will implement and lead the human resources strategy for the group worldwide.

Mr. Anand said: "(Ms Richardson's) experience in workforce development, talent management, employee relations, training, and organisational design and development, especially in the insurance industry, will help us continue to attract, develop and retain talented people around the world as we continue to grow."

Ms Richardson joins Torus from Synovate, a global market research firm, where she was executive vice-president of human resources for the Americas.

... and hires ex-HSBC insurance executives

Bermuda-based Torus' US speciality insurance unit in Jersey City, New Jersey has hired three former executives of HSBC Intermediary Solutions to write primary general liability and automobile liability coverage for renewable energy companies.

Business Insurance magazine reported that Angie Adams, fomer president of HSBC Intermediary Solutions, will lead the team as senior vice president. Adam Newman, former senior vice president of HSBC Intermediary Solutions, and Wayne Jacobson, formerly vice president and chief underwriting officer of the HSBC unit, have been named vice president at Torus.

The renewable energy team will also offers umbrella and excess coverage, Torus said.

Ryland joins Armour

Armour Reinsurance Group Holdings Ltd. has named Steve Ryland as senior vice-president of the group.

Mr. Ryland has many years of experience in insurance run-off and services for discontinued re/insurance entities.

He was previously executive director of PRO Insurance Solutions (formerly a Swiss Re Group company), where he had responsibility for global business development and was a member of strategy, executive committee and management boards.
