Confident Jardine

Jardine Matheson trading group, has reported a profit of $113 million for the first six months of the year, a rise of 7.9 percent ($8 million) over the same period the year previously. Chairman Mr. Henry Keswick said: "Results for the full year are expected to be in line with the interim results and the company remains confident of its future prospects.'' Jardine transferred its legal headquarters from Hong Kong to Bermuda in 1984 due to uncertainty over the British Colony's future when sovereignty is handed over to China in 1997. Since then, well over 100 Hong Kong companies have followed suit and redomiciled in Bermuda.
