Conyers' Anderson makes the top 50 list
Conyers Dill & Pearman partner and global head of trust and private client Alec Anderson has been selected as one of 50 most influential advisors in the private client profession by Private Client Practitioner Magazine.
The list includes leading private client advisors from England, the Crown Dependencies and British Overseas Territories, who have been nominated by peers across the legal, banking and accounting sectors for quality of service and innovation in the field of wealth management.
Mr. Anderson is widely acclaimed for his integrity, commitment to the profession and experience as a trust and estate lawyer. He led the team acting for the trustees in a high profile divorce case involving implications against a family trust and acts as a legal advisor on private client and offshore trust law to several international families and to well established US and London-based law firms.
His client base ranges from, among others, South Africa, Hong Kong, Switzerland, Mexico, Columbia, France, the UK, Canada and the US.
Mr. Anderson guided through several important changes to Bermuda's trust laws through his Chairmanship of Bermuda International Business Association's (BIBA) Law Reform Sub-Committee on Trust Law and the BIBA Trust Law Committee, including the Perpetuities Accumulations Act 2009, which abolished the perpetuity period for Bermuda Law Trusts.
He was also the driving force behind amendments to Bermuda's Trusts (Special Provisions) Act 1989, which ensure that trusts governed by Bermuda Law may only be set aside by the Bermuda Courts.
"We are proud of our track record of delivering sophisticated legal advice to our international clients throughout the year," said Mr. Anderson. "We are pleased and honoured to be held in such high regard by our peers.
"Our listing among prominent figures in the private wealth advisory market confirms our reputation for depth of expertise within our trust and private client team. We intend to continue to deliver the highest quality responsive legal advice to our clients."
Mr. Anderson has been a partner at Conyers since 1991 and oversees a legal team spanning the firm's London, Cayman Islands, British Virgin Islands and Bermuda offices.
