eMonday project aims to boost online shopping
A new initiative to boost online business in Bermuda is set to be launched by the Department of E-Commerce, in partnership with the Bermuda Chamber of Commerce retail division, the Bermuda Small Business Development Corporation and North Rock Communications.
eMonday, which is also sponsored by Butterfield Bank, North Rock Communications, the Youth Entrepreneurship Initiative of Bermuda and Quo Vadis and goes live on November 15, aims to increase Internet shopping on the Island using discounts and promotions available on Monday.
"The goal of eMonday is to support and encourage the development of e-commerce and highlight the importance technology plays in enabling entrepreneurs and that is why we have created this event," said E-commerce Minister Michael Scott.
Businesses or organisations interested in signing up can visit www.eMonday.bm, the official e-Monday website where shoppers will find an overview of all discounts and specials being offered by participants on Monday, November 15.
Participating businesses must accept orders online, or accept orders online with the ability to provide full online payments. E-taliers must also offer a discount or promotion on e-Monday in order to take part.
eMonday is also designed to promote local e-tailers, and provide information and resources for e-commerce start-ups through networking and information sessions, as well as supporting Global Entrepreneurship Week.
