Essay competition winners have breakfast with Ford
Winners of the Business Bermuda 2010 student essay competition enjoyed a private breakfast with former US Representative, chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council and NBC news analyst Harold Ford yesterday.
After spending time discussing US politics, international business and study at school, Mr. Ford, who was also the keynote speaker at Business Bermuda's Annual General Meeting, presented certificates of achievement and prizes to the students.
First place was awarded to Tania Gray, of the Bermuda High School for Girls, second place went to Kathleen Watts, also of the Bermuda High School for Girls and Olivia Joell and Jennifer Ross, both of Berkeley Institute, jointly took third spot.
Honourable mentions were given to Hannah Schaefer, Rebecca McLauchlan, Berkeley Brown and Nijmeh Marouf, all of the Bermuda High School for Girls.
"This morning went extremely well," said Business Bermuda CEO Cheryl Packwood. "I am very proud of these young ladies. They represented the youth of Bermuda in a wonderful light and were fully engaged in their discussions with Mr. Ford. Mr. Ford was impressed with their awareness of the issues affecting Bermuda, the US and the world."
