Foster Wheeler sees profits up by double

MONTERREY, MEXICO (Bloomberg) - Foster Wheeler Ltd., the Hamilton, Bermuda-based designer of oil refineries, said second-quarter profit more than doubled on higher international demand and that CEO Raymond Milchovich will retire next year.

Net income climbed to $160.8 million, or $1.11 a share, from $71.9 million, or 50 cents, a year earlier, the company said in a Business Wire statement.

Revenue increased 43 percent to $1.7 billion. Excluding an asbestos-related gain, Foster Wheeler said profit was 98 cents a share, beating analysts' estimates.
