Gibbons Co. upgrades website

Shoppers will be able to make orders for home delivery via the Internet thanks to an upgraded website launched by Gibbons Company this month.

Everything from the latest fashions in clothes to bedding and dinnerware is now just a click away after the department store upgraded its website from fragrances and gift cards to every department.

Originally launched in November 2007, the website underwent its latest update in early June, meaning customers will now be able to get their hands on a range of goods, including fragrance and beauty, dinnerware and bedding, fashion and baby supplies, as well as having them delivered Island-wide or available for collection from the store's checkpoint on Church Street.

Paula Clarke, chief executive officer of Gibbons Company, believes the real beauty of the website is the choice of products it offers.

"I think it has such a broad spectrum of merchandise," she said. "It gives a nice round view of what we have to offer and we will be adding and removing stock as it changes on a regular basis."

Ms Clarke reckons the website, which has been under development for a number of years to meet the needs of its clients, will prove to be a big hit with local and overseas customers alike.

"We have had a lot of interest and a lot of hits and we are really happy to report that we have been able to service our customers by delivering the next day, either in town or the parishes, for a fee, as well as the facility to pick it up from the store," she said. "We have not just had hits locally, but from overseas as well."

Customers can also arrange to send gifts abroad to family and friends via the website, while international customers in the UK, US and Canada can now shop for local and European goods unavailable in their area, as well as enjoy savings on fragrance and beauty products, cashmere, Bermuda shorts, blazers and ties, and bedding to name a few. They can also select gifts for family and friends on the Island and have them delivered door-to-door.

Another new feature on the new online service allows users to order personalised gift cards by creating their own unique design through uploading photographs and adding messages. Businesses can also customise a Gibbons gift card with their company logo and personal message.

The website at www.gibbons.bm won the 'Best Interactive Experience' award presented by Telecommunications Minister Terry Lister at the TechWeek Technology Innovation Awards last month.
