Gosling to receive honorary degree from Dalhousie
One of Bermuda's most prominent business women is set to receive an honorary degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia next month.
Nancy Gosling, president and CEO of Gosling Brothers Ltd., who graduated from the university with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1976, will be presented with the award at Dalhousie's convocation ceremonies held between May 25 and June 2.
A Bermuda Alumni Reception will also be hosted by the university at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess on Monday between 5.30 p.m. and 8 p.m., where Ms Gosling will be present, and which will also include a talk by Dr. John Gosse, an associate professor at Dalhousie University, on natural disasters, specifically hurricanes, and global warming impacts Bermuda.
Ms Gosling, who has a Certified General Accountant designation and as Gosling's first female president following her appointment in 1991 is among the seventh generation of the family business, has proved to be an innovator and driving force behind the company's local expansion.
As one of the leaders of the Island's business community, Ms Gosling serves on the board of directors of Bermuda Container Line and BF&M Ltd.
"An expert in trade and business service functions, Nancy Gosling is one of Dalhousie's most successful alumna in the international business community," read the Dalhousie University biography of Ms Gosling.
Dr. Gosse, who holds a BSc from Memorial University and a PhD from Lehigh University, is a geochronologist and geomorphologist.
