Bermuda-based Hiscox, the international specialist insurer, yesterday announced that it has appointed Jim Whetstone as senior vice-president, Global Errors and Omissions (E&O) in the Global Markets area.

Mr. Whetstone, who joins the company from Ace USA, is based in Hiscox's Chicago office. He will be underwriting Hiscox technology and privacy protection products for US-based entities.

"Jim is particularly well respected for his technical understanding of technology and privacy risks as an insured broker and underwriter," said Neil Bolton, president, Hiscox Global Markets in the US. "He will deepen the existing pool of experienced specialists as our network of offices grows."

Prior to joining Hiscox, Mr. Whetstone underwrote the professional liability product suite, specialising in privacy and technology, in Ace USA's Professional Risk division. Prior to joining Ace USA, Mr. Whetstone was a vice-president in Aon's Technology and Professional Risk group where he worked with companies to address risk management best practices, contracting process improvements, and risk transfer solutions related to their use of and dependence on technology.
