Insurance advisor Horseshoe Group has added life actuarial consulting and company management to its Bermuda-based services after hiring William Schnaer as actuarial consultant.

Mr. Schnaer joins Horseshoe Hamilton offices after being chief underwriting officer at RCS Ltd. and before that senior vice-president, Structured Transactions at Quanta Reinsurance Ltd., both in Bermuda.

Mr. Schnaer has a broad background in life insurance and alternative risk transfer. Horseshoe's life insurance practice area will include assistance in pricing and product development, regulatory and shareholder reporting, mergers and acquisitions, embedded value and securitisations.

The company is also offering claims-related services in the US, after hiring Thomas Daly as managing partner of Horseshoe Insurance Advisors US LLC, located in New Fairfield Connecticut.

Mr. Daly has more than 30 years' experience in the claims field and was most recently president of Reconnaissance Worldwide LLC, a specialty insurance and reinsurance claims consulting firm.

"Their joining Horseshoe will enable us on the one hand to provide consulting and management services to the growing number of life insurance and reinsurance companies that are forming in Bermuda and also assist in the life insurance related securitisations taking place outside the US and on the other hand allow our Bermuda clients the ability to have a trusted and qualified claims practitioner working on their behalf in the US," said Andre Perez, chief executive officer of Horseshoe Group.
