HWP offers discounts to over-60s

The HWP Group has introduced a new programme to help seniors with both the costs and inconveniences associated with vehicle purchase and upkeep.

Yesterday the company said it was launching the 60+ VIP Programme for all Bermuda residents over the age of 60.

Seniors in the programme will be issued loyalty cards and entitled to discounts and privileged treatment from HWP Group across a range of services.

The programme will be run by assistant vice president Lorna Taylor, the company's president, chief executive officer Jonathan Brewin said in a press release.

"Mrs. Taylor will be available to help our more mature customers with every aspect of the many services that the HWP Group offers," Mr. Brewin said. "Customers who sign up for this initiative will be offered discounts on the purchase of any new vehicle, along with a convenient free drop-off service. They will find auto mechanical and body repairs and cycle services to be more affordable with the discount that will be offered on labour and genuine authorised manufacturers' parts.

"They will also find that HWP's service will be more convenient to them with the introduction of preferred appointments for automobile and cycle service on specific days.

"Imagine having the option of missing rush hour traffic by coming in later to drop off your car or bike and leaving earlier."

He added: "Other advantages of this initiative include increased boundaries with the free shuttle service that is already offered by HWP as the pick-up/drop-off service will now include all areas within the City of Hamilton."

The programme is not limited to HWP's vehicle services, however, as seniors in it will also be offered discounts at HomeZone on appliances and services, including free deliveries, and to a free tea or coffee with any purchase over $30 at Shell stations. HWP Group encouraged other businesses to follow their lead as the Island enters troubled economic times.

"This initiative is HWP Group's way of thanking Bermuda's valued seniors," Mr. Brewin said. "We intend to extend the range of services available to our 60+ VIP Programme members and look forward to receiving ideas and suggestions."

To sign-up for the 60+ VIP Programme residents should contact Mrs. Taylor at 279-5007 to make an appointment. Proof of age will be required and participants will be provided with a loyalty card, information sheet and will receive a free HWP gas voucher. More information can also be found at www.hwp.bm.
