Insurers gain ground
Local insurers fared well on The Royal Gazette / Bermuda Stock Exchange (BSX) last week, as both Argus Group Holdings Ltd. and BF&M Ltd. rose.
BF&M, after reporting that half-year profits increased by eight percent, saw its share price rise 95 cents (5.1 percent) to $19.45, on trading of 1,100 shares.
Meanwhile, Argus gained 50 cents (3.6 percent) to close the week on $14.50, as 867 of its shares changed hands.
The BSX Index slipped slightly over the four days' trading after the Labour Day holiday. It dipped 35.67 points (0.8 percent) to end Friday on 4,446.66. Volume was 68,375 shares, while turnover totalled just short of $1 million. The BSX Insurance Index was unchanged on 980.42.
The only other company to advance was KeyTech Ltd., whose shares gained 50 cents to close on $13, as 300 shares traded.
Belco Holdings Ltd. was the only issue to fall, tumbling 55 cents (2.8 percent) to $19 after 500 shares traded.
Butterfield Bank saw the heaviest trading and remained unchanged on $14.50, after 65,408 shares changed hands.
