Claims related to the damage caused by Hurricane Igor have continued to file in, according to the Island's top insurance companies.

A spokeswoman for the Argus Group said that the company had received 55 claims to date and was expecting more in the coming weeks. She said it was too early to put a figure on the value yet.

BF&M Ltd.'s president and CEO John Wight confirmed that 85 claims had been put in with the insurer and it had visited and inspected approximately 90 percent of them, with the remainder being seen today. He added that his company had started paying some claims for minor damage.

Larry Osborne, vice-president of insurance operations at Freisenbruch-Meyer Group, said that about 50 claims had been submitted so far, with current estimates of $499,500. He said the majority were home claims, but there were also some filed for motor and marine.
