Internet service holds up well

A small percentage of web users were out of luck yesterday afternoon, as service went down. But most of the Internet service providers on the Island reported nothing wrong.

Cable and Wireless, Logic, TeleBermuda International and Transact Internet Services all said their systems were running fine despite high winds caused by tropical storm Bertha, which passed by the east of the Island yesterday afternoon.

But North Rock Communications said that two percent of its residential customers and three percent of its corporate customers were unable to access their Internet.

A spokeswoman said: "We have located the problem, but it is at the top of a tower and the winds are too strong for repair workers to go up and fix it."

As soon as winds die down the company expects the problem to be fixed.
