LONDON - Britain's top share index closed higher, boosted by miners as metals rose and overcoming wariness about the outcome of Greece's debt problem. The FTSE 100 closed at 5,753.85 points, up 30.2 or 0.53 percent.

EUROPE - European shares ended at their highest level in nearly a week as strong US economic numbers on Friday and encouraging earnings boosted sentiment, although Greece's debt situation prompted investors to stay cautious.
The FTSEurofirst 300 index of top European shares finished up one percent at 1,103 points, the highest close since April 20. The index has surged about 71 percent since hitting a record low in March last year.

TOKYO - Japan's Nikkei average jumped 2.3 percent, breaking above resistance at the level of its 25-day moving average, as worries about Greece receded and companies such as copier and printer firms benefited after strong earnings from US peers. The benchmark Nikkei rose 251.33 points, or 2.3 percent, to close at 11,165.79.
